Hope each challenge will be a bit more than I can overcome.
At first, I looked down upon everything and everyone, regarding myself as the best. However, in my mind, I wished for someone who could step me down to the ground. ZHAO Ming is that person! He is so much better than I am. I realized that I have to be humble as there is so much to learn. I set a 5-year goal to surpass him. I mentioned it many time to him and he only responded, “Sure. That’s it. Up to you!”
I played with “Freescale” as in my junior college year. Whoever finished first in the track would win. What we studies at the time was quite close to the field of robotics. My understanding of robot was that it was for entertainment with no real value other than the industrial robotic arms. However, at Yogo, after I participated in the development of the hotel service robot MINGO, I realized that the technical challenge to enable a robot to move in a real environment is not the same as that in a lab.
If you are like me who is obsessed with robots, you are welcome to join.
I told my parents that I did not choose the wrong path. I will work here to my retirement.
People here are very unique. They want to achieve excellence instead of just getting it done. There are many big wizards here. Following them, you will learn to look at things from different perspectives. You will have a wider vision.
After six months on board, I have a very different view of my job. Before, I wanted to do something clever. Now I want to do something useful, something that I will be proud of. Although the company is not big now, but who knows what it will develop into? I hope to change my parents’ view of me through what I can accomplish here, telling them that I did not choose the wrong career path. Now, they are changing. Since I am so happy with what I do, they feel contented too.
Life is a rival with yourself. Everyone has the right to choose the kind of life they want to live. Instead of demanding what a company can bring you, you’d better think what kind of person you want to become. I hope everyone will gain more trust in themselves.
I don’t want to waste life at the start of my 20s.
In the summer of 2016, I joined Yogo as an intern before I finished my Junior year. I felt there should be but few “unfortunate” college kids like me. Everyone worked very late. Having nowhere to go in the evening, I joined them working the additional hours. Being a shameless fool and having the opportunity to interact with the technical wizards, I was put in touch with a lot of knowledge. What I learned in one summer was way more than my entire Junior year in college!
There is never less pressure here. I designed my own PCB board all by myself, from schematics to layout, wiring, cutting, welding and testing to the final verification of the functionalities. This board embedded with my own thoughts and patent invented by me. I am very proud of it!
I hope to make robots truly useful, not because it sounds good, but something that can be used, and can be assimilated into people’s life to unleash its value. Building a product approved by people is what I want to do.
I have made many mistakes and reflections. How we think will affect how we work. I have learnt to take responsibilities for what I do. Because the approval given to the product is the approval of me. If you are practical, flexible and self-motivated, come here and you will discover: Wow, you can make robots yourself!
